Brad Washburn began in photography as a child. Early on he was the family photographer on vacations.
As the years went on photography became Brads' passion. With the support from his parents and encouragement from his
high school photography instructor, Brad found that he had a talent that was something of a natural gift.
In college at Colorado State University Brad continued taking photography for art credits. After graduating,
Brad packed his camera in his backpack and headed to Europe. It was on this trip that Brad discovered his love for landscape
and nature photography. In the years that followed from 1990-2001, Brad worked as a ski photographer in Aspen and Vail, Colorado
shooting action and portraiture on the mountain tops. This lifestyle afforded Brad time to travel in the off seasons. Brad has travelled
to far away places in Asia, Australia and New Zealand, Africa, India, and back to Europe. "My favorite trips were the ones that I took
in North America". Road trips to Mexico, Canada and Alaska or driving across the country visiting our National Parke provided Brad
many opportunities for nature and landscapes to be photographed.
In April 2001 after shadow shooting a major fashion shoot on Aspen mountain, Brad decided that he wanted to
pursue a career in studio photography. In the summer of 2001 Brad moved to New York City to study photography at the acclaimed
School Of Visual Arts in Manhattan. In addition to photography school, Brad managed Infocus Graphics, a small family owned
printing and graphic design business, as part of his pay he was given studio space upstairs. During his time in New York City,
Brad built an impressive portfolio of fine art, fashion and headshots for aspiring models and actors all working on a TFP (time for
prints) something of a trade for services.
In the fall of 2003 after completing his program at SVA, Brad returned to the west coast. Brad began shooting
for Filmmagic.com, a celebrity and entertainment media agency. From this exposure Brad made many commercial and publicity
contacts shooting events and for media and PR agencies. Brad has been published in many editorials including People, Intouch
and a host of others.
Currently Brad resides in Orange County where he has established a successful family client base. Referrals are
now the core of his business. Brad takes great pride in producing quality photography and going beyond the expectations of his
clients. "When I receive a referral from a client it is confirmation that they were happy with my work".
Brad is a member of PPA (Professional Photographers of America) and continues to advance his knowledge in photography through
classes and seminars that are offered. Brad shoots with Canon cameras and lenses and is always updating his equipment to keep current
with technology and advances in the photographic arena.
